The Design Narrative
Our approach for Assagao Estate I was to embrace the "more is more" philosophy, but with a disciplined, sophisticated eye. Every corner of the estate is a dialogue between the past and the present - where classical Indo-Portuguese elements are reimagined through a lens of high-fashion luxury.
Architectural Highlights & Interior Elements
The Grand Entrance & Foyer - A striking monochromatic palette anchors the foyer. The high-volume space features a majestic arched doorway in black, contrasted against crisp white walls. A central octagonal table serves as a pedestal for curated art, reflected infinitely in an oversized, ornate wall mirror.
The Mirrored Gallery - In the formal living area, a feature wall adorned with a grid of convex mirrors creates a shimmering, kaleidoscopic effect, amplifying the natural light pouring in through floor-to-ceiling glass walls.
The Gilded Bar - We transitioned into a warmer, more vibrant palette for the social spaces. A backlit yellow-gold bar is paired with eclectic multi-pendant glass chandeliers and striped upholstery, embodying the playful spirit of maximalist entertaining.
Stately Four-Posters - The bedrooms are anchored by dark-wood four-poster beds - a nod to colonial heritage - set against vaulted ceilings and intricate wall moldings.
Textural Contrast - We used a mix of mirrored nightstands, tactile rugs, and soft linen drapes to balance the "opulent" scale of the furniture with a sense of intimate comfort.
The Master Bath - A true "spa-regency" retreat. The space features a freestanding clawfoot tub positioned under a dramatic amber-toned chandelier, framed by architectural arches that elevate the daily ritual into an experience of pure indulgence.
The Sculptural Staircase - The transition between floors is a gallery in itself. A stark white balustrade with rhythmic cut-outs is paired with a cascading installation of crystal chandeliers and a floor-to-ceiling gallery wall featuring the estate’s photographic legacy.
